we are multifaceted beings

Our bodies, minds, hearts and souls are intimately intertwined

  • body

Yoga takes the body as a starting point toward authentic and balanced well-being. However, yoga as a lifestyle is much more than stretching and strengthening our bodies through asana (physical postures).

  • mind

I draw upon modern-day neuroscience (the polyvagal theory) and the power of sound and mantra in my work. Where needed, I can rely on my knowledge of acceptance and commitment therapy as a verbal supplement to body-based methods.

  • soul

In essence, a holistic approach is an invitation for inner exploration and growing awareness. Ancient texts contain a wealth of information on different tools that can contribute to this journey.

Training background

I am a social worker turned yoga teacher using holistic practices to support people suffering from anxiety, stress and trauma. By studying health practices in Africa for my master's degree in cultural anthropology and through my in-depth study of yoga, I became acquainted with a holistic perspective on health and wellness. As a result of working in the social sector in Belgium, I noticed that this holistic perspective was missing. This drove me to train in yoga therapy, nutrition, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Yoga therapy uses yoga tools such as conscious movement, breathing exercises, meditation, chanting, etc. to restore the balance between body and mind.

QUALIFICATIONS

Currently, I have amassed over 650 hours of certified yoga training and have been teaching for about five years in studios in Belgium and in an ecotourism school on a remote Indonesian island called Sumba. There I taught yoga to underprivileged teenagers and led a program to make victims of sexual violence more resilient. I am passionate about making yoga therapy accessible to communities in need.
